So Saturday morning I walked among the McCaininators, a bluish person in a red sea. ...All right, so drama aside it was an interesting little event. Definitely some interesting characters to see, from well dressed men in peacoats to folksy women with buttons to guys with huge beards. And I mean huge beards. These things could have eaten you.

There were lots of police around (obviously) but no one checked the tickets we'd been told to print off of the Republican website. Utterly useless.

I almost didn't make it long enough to hear McCain speak. Since I'd shown up at a fashionably normal time I was relegated to "standing room" among some... colorful people (though not racially, lemme tell ya). Take into account that it's cold, I want breakfast, and there're like six speakers before McCain and I don't like the message any of 'em have to offer. In short, the decision to stick it out was a difficult one, but I did. ...Not for all of McCain's speech, but long enough to take some pics and a small video. Then I left to get coffee.

Fun note: as I left I got an Obama/Biden sticker from two members of our campus' Democratic group who were out with signs next to the McCain merchandisers. XD

...And now I return to chewing my nails in election-fever anticipation.

My college campus is going to be flooded with McCain supporters and newshounds tomorrow morning. McCain's coming to hold a rally (presumably the last before the election), though why he chose Chrisopher Newport University to do it at is beyond me. Maybe it was cheaper. I suspect it has something to do with our University President being a former Republican senator. Anywho, I'm going to go and listen and take pictures. I don't support the man for President, but huddling in my dorm in protest would be stupid. I'll play reporter instead. :D

But they're not making me wear one of his stickers/red, dammit.

His people and our people have been scrambling to set up for it all day, and I found it amusing so I took some shots. ENJOY.

So I went to Balticon oh, hmm... two weeks ago? Yeah, I know, I fail at the "personal journal" thing. A friend and I drove up around 3am and just barreled through the day. It was a blast. The weather was crappy so we ended up looking like drown rats whenever we had to leave the convention center, but the important thing is that the commissions and comics we bought managed to stay dry.

I ended up purchasing my very first commission ever from this guy at one of the booths. He was doing sketches for only $5 a pop, and when I saw one he'd done for my friend I all but bounded over. He had a really fun style and was actually very sweet considering that I had to keep giving him references (because I was being difficult by not wanting Batman or Joker. XD Everyone and their mother was commissioning Batman or Joker that day, I swear). I was pretty durn happy with how they turned out. The first is of Riddler and Scarecrow (my favorite Batman baddies) and the second is of the Corinthian from Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics.

As mentioned, I also ended up buying a bunch of comics because I found some good deals, mostly "Batman". I also bought the first volume of Stephen King's Dark Tower. It's disappointing that Marvel picked it up instead of someone like Vertigo, but then I'm biased, so. The comic's been good so far, luckily. I also broke down and bought two action figures, the first an awesome one of Scarecrow and the second of a crappy-but-fun Man-Bat.

...Flu season has obviously arrived. My statistics class this morning was like the cast of extras from "E.R." I kind of want to quarantine my dorm room off for protection.

So, I realized I've never done a photo post. No great loss, I'm sure you're saying, but guess who had some extra time today and a fully-charged digital camera? Oh you bet you're lookin' at her.
